About Us

The purpose of the Scenic City Sickle Corporation is to increase the awareness of sickle cell disease, provide a network for adult sickle cell clients, and to develop a system of transitional services that will assist adolescents living with sickle cell disease through their transition into adulthood.

September is Sickle Cell Awareness Month and September 2013 the Scenic City Sickle Corporation held its first 1 Mile Walk or 5K Fun Run for Sickle Cell at Booker T. Washington State Park. The goal of the walk was to raise funds that will help the organization carry out its programs to educate the Chattanooga community about the sickle cell disease.

Our future plans include hosting annual 1 Mile Walk or 5K Fun Run for Sickle Cell and to host sickle cell testing annually for people living in Chattanooga and Hamilton County who were born before 1992. The testing sessions will commence Saturday, February 16, 2013.  As funding becomes available, additional screenings such as echo cardiograms, pulmonary function testing, hearing and visual screenings for the adult sickle cell population will be added.

The organization’s commitment to the community could not be complete without financial support through major fundraising. To donate to our organization, you can mail a contribution to Scenic City Sickle Corporation; 651 East 4th Street, Suite 100; Chattanooga, TN 37403.
